Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (MUA3) is an exclusive game to the Nintendo Switch. It’s the third instalment of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series where players can build a team of four heroes to fight against mobs and iconic villains from the Marvel comic books.
The game features famous superheroes like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Iron Man. Many of them can be controlled by the player who can combine any heroes regardless of their relationships in the comics. This way, fans of the comic books can pick members from the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and more!
Unfortunately, not everyone can be played. Some characters are busy with other matters that they only appeared as allies. Others never even appeared in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 game but they were mentioned. Here’s a list of Marvel characters that were mentioned but never appeared in the game as well as a brief introduction for each of them:
Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)[]
The name ‘Hawkeye’ was famously brandished by Clint Barton as a member of the Avengers and an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. The name was given to Kate Bishop as a member of the Young Avengers which mostly consists of other young heroes who took the names of their role models.
Kate Bishop’s story began as early as in her elementary school days when she was saved by the Avengers from a kidnapping. One of her heroes stood out to her because he doesn’t have superpowers. His name is Hawkeye, Clint Barton, whom she has seen as a role model ever since.
Her debut as a crime-fighter began in yet another scuffle with villains. Her saviours this time are the Young Avengers who are inexperienced. Fortunately, she studied martial arts ever since she was assaulted and she used her skills to save her would-be saviours. She stood as the team leader of the Young Avengers and she’s the one who convinced Captain America to train them.
Spider-Ham[]
Spider-Ham is a comedic approach to retelling Peter Parker (Spider-Man)’s story. Instead of being a person bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter Porker is a spider that was bitten by a radioactive pig. This radioactive pig is May Porker (this world’s aunt May) who charged herself with radiation and mindlessly bit off Peter who was a spider living in her basement.
After this incident, Peter Porker went through basically the same hijinks that Peter Parker did in the main comic book continuity. The difference is that this world is full of anthropomorphised animals, including the other members of the Avengers.
Quicksilver[]
Quicksilver, Pietro Maximoff, is the brother of the playable character, Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff). Both siblings have had a rough childhood as they had to deal with prejudice and abuse growing up. They both joined the Brotherhood of Mutants because they were saved by its leader, Erik Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto.
Quicksilver was one of the most iconic X-Men villains to ever grace the comics until the Brotherhood of Mutants fell. He and his sister were invited to join the Avengers where they became permanent members. Today, he is one of the world’s mightiest superheroes and husband to Crystal of the Inhumans.
Apocalypse[]
Apocalypse is one of the most powerful mutant characters in the Marvel Universe who is purely from Earth. He is a mutant whose powers manifested in Ancient Egypt. He has a fairly straightforward mutant power then. It consists of Immortality, super strength, and super speed.
Apocalypse used his powers trying to conquer Egypt as a demigod after experiencing unjust prejudice because of the way he looks. After his revolution, he set out to impose his rule of eliminating the weak while also finding ways to expand his powers. What finally gave him his final form is when he used Celestial technology on his body during the modern era.
Galactus[]
Galactus is one of the most iconic villains that the Fantastic Four had to fight. He is known as the devourer of worlds because he consumes planets to stay alive. He is now generally known as a neutral force rather than a villain because he needs to eat planets to survive. There are many occasions when he helped the heroes to fight against pure evil forces like Thanos.
Hank Pym[]
Hank Pym is the original Ant-Man. This title is now heralded by Scott Lang who appeared as a non-playable ally in the game. He is the husband of Janet van Dyne, the playable character known as Wasp. Hank, Scott, and Janet all share the power to use the Pym Particles to shrink or grow at will.
Hank Pym is a superhero who rivals Bruce Banner (Hulk) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) in intellect. However, he is known for his temperament which often causes him relationship problems with the other members of the Avengers.
Cassie Lang[]
Cassie Lang is the daughter of the non-playable Avenger, Scott Lang (Ant-Man). She is one of the members of the Young Avengers together with Kate Bishop (Hawkeye). She did take the name Ant-Girl but she went through other iterations like Giant-Girl, the New Ant-Man, Titan, and Stature.
Just like her father, Cassie Lang has the power to shrink and grow at will using the Pym Particles. Her powers manifested during an argument with the members of the Young Avengers trying to push her away for not having any powers. She grew exponentially tall when she was angry and this established her place in the group.
The Collector[]
The Collector’s name is Taneleer Tivan although his moniker is all that he ever uses. He does have superpowers such as creating illusions and seeing the future but he is not very impressive.
What made him dangerous is the number of technologies he has collected for centuries which he knew how to use. He is also an unrelenting force who will stop at nothing to get what he wants to add to his collection. However, the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 game is already full of even more powerful threats like Thanos and Doctor Doom. He’s still an interesting character regardless.
